Drawing heavily from capital campaign techniques, this class covers everything from building a donor pyramid to creating a donor deck to identifying seed funder prospects.

    Other skill are required to run a scaling campaign our way: prospecting, proposal writing, major gift skills, and fundraising drive chops. We don’t teach those parts in this course because we have them in other courses. We’ve outlined them in the paragraph to the left.

  • This course has one clear outcome: you understand everything you need to do to run a scaling campaign without a consultant and have a clear path to filling in the skills gaps in your team to successfully run one.

  • Kirstie takes on 2-3 scaling clients at a time and has a track record of doubling budgets in two years for organizations that bring her on. She especially loves supporting organizations with sub $1M budgets in this endeavor.

    In addition, she works on Executive Director/CEO exit campaigns which are similar to scaling campaigns in that outgoing leaders are trying to secure large amounts of three year pledges in a short amount of time so that a new leader can come in and focus on relationship building—not asks.

    She’s worked on leader exit or scaling campaign support for: For the Many, IfNotNow, interACT, Bend the Arc, Trestle, Jews for Racial & Economic Justice (as Development Director), and others.

  • This class is 18 hours, where our other classes are shorter, up to 12 hours.

    Scaling campaigns are really complicated! Creating and putting on this training not only takes more time to prepare for, but requires a much higher level of focus.

    If you were going to hire out a consultant to run a scaling campaign for you, you’d be looking at paying five or six figures. This is a hyper-specialized skill that most fundraisers don’t have in their toolbox. We want to make it available to everyone!

    This is a class we want to offer, but in order to do that and have it feel sustainable, we had to price it higher than the other classes.

    Note: this is the only class that we choose applicants based on different criteria than our normal scholarships.

    We will be choosing the organization who gets these two slots based on our perception of their readiness to actually run a campaign. We do this because we want to give these specific skills to the team who can best implement them.

    We make decisions by evaluating your answers to standard scholarship questions, your budget, the number of donors you have, and the number of staff on your team.

  • We ask about access in all of our sign-up forms. We can accommodate most needs (needing slides ahead of time, needing slides a certain size, needing alt text, etc). We also can accommodate closed captioning.
